What to Wear Wednesday: Nature-Inspired

Every “earthy” fashionista needs a nature-inspired look (if you don’t already have one). We’ve taken our Samara ankle cuff gladiator sandals and paired them with a sheer, one-shoulder dress with this amazing mosaic pattern. The trending color for the summer is – believe it or not – black! We love how we can fit that trend with the black base color of the dress and shoes but add hints of pink and blue, so you don’t feel like you’re dressing for a summer funeral.

Given that it’s a nature-inspired outfit, you of course want to rock the oh-so trendy reusable tote bag. It’s cute and can fit a ton of stuff (for those of us who like to pack our lives in our purse)! Lastly, we’ve added some retro sunglasses by Cole Haan, which can be found on Nordstrom.com for $150.

What truly ties this outfit together as an “earthy” look is the Samara sandals. The leaf embellishment that lays across the top of the foot is a truly earth-inspired detail, with a fashionable and subtle touch. The vegetable tanned leathers, lining fabrics made with recycled content and outsoles containing natural materials are yet another added eco-friendly bonus!

How Do You Naya – Sara Mitzner, O (Oprah) Magazine Fashion Editor

The following is an interview with Sara Mitzner at O (Oprah) Magazine

In a previous How Do You Naya feature we introduced you to Assistant Fashion Accessories Editor, Sarah Lisitski, and now we have another awesome Sara for you to meet – Sara Mitzner. As fashion editor for O (Oprah) Magazine, Sara keeps readers looking fresh and fabulous and has insight to all of the latest trends. Let’s learn a bit more about the other Sara who makes up this dynamic duo!

NS: How do you like to relax?

SM: Taking a hot, relaxing bath! I also enjoy listening to music in my room while cleaning up. Being productive and organized to me is relaxing. I also love online shopping – it’s kind of work related because it gives me creative ideas.

NS: How do you help soften your footprint on our earth?

SM: I recycle at home and at work. In fact, the Hearst Corporation who owns O (Oprah) Magazine has a waterfall in the lobby that utilizes recycled rain water. I also use energy efficient light bulbs and have an energy efficient (green) TV. I also try to use candles or low light lamps and public transportation.

NS: What is your favorite drink to help you relax?

SM: I enjoy a glass of red wine at the end of a long day.

NS: Do you have a favorite song that helps you renew?

SM: “Firework” by Katy Perry.

NS: Do you participate in any outdoor activities that renew your mind, body or spirit?

SM: I like to take long, slow walks around the city – especially on Sundays.

NS: What is your favorite Naya shoe and why?

SM: I love the Begonia from Naya’s Spring 2011 line. They are so comfortable and are very flattering on the foot. Many people assume flats will look great but truly, a good looking flat is hard to find. It also has some great universal colors.

What to Wear Wednesday: Going from Work to Play!

Our summer heel, the Willa, was recently featured on the ever-so-popular Website, Mother Nature Network, as well as one of our favorite eco-fashion and lifestyle blogs, Green LA Girl. These stories inspired us to feature this fabulous heel in this week’s What to Wear Wednesday blog post.

We paired the Willa in Lunar Taupe with a silk chiffon, flowy blouse and a simple pair of white jeans (a go-to summer staple). Add a small black  messenger bag and your outfit’s complete! The specific handbag we’ve chosen is Marc by Marc Jacobs and can be found on Nordstrom.com for $328.

We wanted to give this ensemble a summer-inspired pop of color, so we added these gorgeous Cara Accessories bangles. Did we mention coral is really on-trend right now? When the work-day is over and you’re ready to hit the town, throw on this fashion-forward beaded necklace to add some extra texture and color to the outfit.

Now, about those shoes! The Willa features a padded comfort system with superb arch support, flexible platforms, contoured foot beds containing natural cork. In addition to these amazing comfort features, this heel is made with recycled content fabrics and natural cork. The best part is these shoes create the illusion of the sky-high heels (lengthening your legs of course), but the heel is only 2 and 3/4 inches tall (not including the platform). Visit shoes.com to purchase The Willa for $135 with free shipping.
