Spending Green

Kimberly Button, Green Living TV Personality and Founder of Greenwell Consulting

Spending time outdoors instantly refreshes and renews me.  It doesn’t have to be a nature hike or an adventure sport, but just simply sitting in the backyard and watching the birds foraging for food or a butterfly floating among the flowers.  Even just watching the clouds in the sky or feeling the breeze on my skin helps put life into perspective – these aren’t things that we can buy, but we sure do enjoy them and they make life worth living.

I enjoy appreciating nature – but I also enjoy chocolate!  There are so many wonderfully decadent, all-natural foods out there just waiting to be discovered!  Organic and fair trade chocolates, especially those created with unique flavors, bring me joy.

I also get excited about all of the wonderful products I can find in a health food store that taste delicious, are helping independent farmers across the globe and are created sustainably – coconut milk ice cream, almond and gogi berry trail mix, exotic teas….I could go on and on, but grocery shopping is really fun when you allow yourself to explore new tastes and new foods that you’ve never experienced.

I continue to realize more and more that every dollar I spend – no matter what it’s spent on – makes a statement and makes a difference in the world.  Every time we spend our hard-earned money, we’re supporting someone and their cause – whether it’s good or bad.  I’m really trying to make an impact on the Earth by focusing my money on businesses that are doing the right thing for the right reasons.

Favorite Naya Shoe: The Bristol. It’s a fun floral sandal that can take you from the beach to a nice dinner and into the night.  The flower accents are so flirty and perfect for spring and summer.
